RIP DJ AM 1973-2009...what a year...

Earlier today, at 5:20 pm, self made celebrity Adam Goldstein, better known as DJ AM, was found dead in his home. It appears to be the result of a drug overdose. A friend called authorities after he was unable to enter AM's home in SoHo. He was half dressed in bed, and in his vicinity, authorities discovered a crack pipe and prescription drugs. Obviously it's too early for an toxicology report to confirm the cause of death to the public, but due to the paraphenalia and his history of drug use, overdose is most likely the cause. He was 36 years old.

The saddest part is that he reportedly had been clean for years, and even had a show coming out in October on MTV "Gone To Far", a type of "Intervention" show (like on A&E), but for teens. It goes to show you that money doesn't change everything. Addiction is a never ending battle.

Judging by the responses I received from most people when I mentioned DJ AM, I'm assuming many people don't realize they've heard of him. He is an actual dj, like the ones people call to play for their parties. He started out like any other, but became well known because of his mixes, and eventually his mash-ups. He was also a member of Crazy Town, a 90's band known for their hit "Butterfly". He soon became a must-have dj, scratching on albums for Madonna and Will Smith, and performing concerts with Jay-Z. He also performed private parties for stars like Jim Carrey and Kate Hudson.

AM was also co-owner of LAX, a crazy nightclub in Las Vegas, and was a regular dj on Fridays at Rain nightclub in Vegas as well. As far as his love life, he was involved with Nicole Richie and Mandy Moore...yea, I kno. His most recent collabo was with Blink 182 drummer, Travis Barker who with, in September of last year, he survived a plane crash that killed 4 others. Now maybe I'm paranoid because I just saw "The Final Destination 3D", but doesn't that seem like some real fate/death is gonna get you stuff? How do you survive a crazy fatal plane crash, and die a year later. Just thinkin...anyways.

He def had quite the life, I just wish he was able to enjoy more of it. May he rest in peace.

That is all...
